Hello,

My name is Nikki Cherek, I have been a resident of Greenfield for 22 years. I am running for re-election because this is my way of serving my community. I enjoy being part of the decision-making process regarding how to best prepare our children for their adult lives.

I want our students to be prepared for their future, whatever direction they choose to go. I want our parents to feel confident that our district is providing the best education and opportunities for their children. I will listen to the concerns of our children and parents- and make sure that we hear their perspectives and make decisions that put our resources in the right place.

I enjoy researching and learning about new programs and opportunities for our students and advocating for each and every child in our district.

I have been in the Education field for over 25 years and have a passion for education. I feel I can give valuable input to the board.

Experience:

I have worked in the educational field my whole career (26 years). For 15 years, I worked as a Program Supervisor for Milwaukee’s Title 1 Program and currently work for MPS Head Start Program. I have experience working collaboratively on team projects, I currently participate on a leadership team that meet’s bi-weekly to discuss best practices around early childhood education, parent engagement, and community outreach.

I have taught in the classroom and worked in administrative positions. When I supervised the Title I Program, I was responsible for: school budgets, interviewing and hiring of Title I Teachers, I provided professional development on curriculum and worked collaboratively with other administrators creating school improvement plans.

Positions:

• Make sure every student is on a path to graduate and educationally equipped to lead a successful life.

• Provide highly competitive pay for to retain and to recruit highly qualified staff.

• Ensure the community provides the resources to protect and enrich students when they are not on campus.

• Implement a strong response to bullying

• Develop a sense of happiness and moral value in the students and faculty as a result of their Interaction with the school district.

Investing in our youth and community is essential. It is my top priority to ensure that each student is served in the best capacity based on their individual needs; understanding that providing support to our school employees is the foundation for student success.

I credit our teachers for being passionate professionals. They are shaping exceptional students. But we need leadership to support our teachers as well.

How?

I’m asking for the community to help our schools. Even if you do not have kids in our school system, you can offer your talents and resources. Volunteer. Do you have a talent? Do you like to read? Be a guest reader. Do you come from a Tech industry? Help with robotics. We are better together.

There is a saying “Good Communities make good schools, and good schools make good communities”.

Our district functions like a family, full of heart. I want to support the progress and success of our district. I want to support the progress and success our district has achieved. I am excited about the direction that are district is headed, with strong focus on school attendance, family/community engagement, and preparing our students for their future. It is important to me that we keep education, safety and well-being of each student at the forefront of our decisions.

I am asking you to re-elect me to the school board. When you vote, ask “What kind of community do we want to create so are kids are successful?

I bring collaborative, community minded leadership to every meeting. I listen and communicate with respect and civility. And together, our students will launch into the world well equipped to solve the next generation’s challenges.

It takes a partnership between parents, schools, and the Greenfield community to raise GREAT kids!

Thank you for the opportunity,

Nikki Cherek
